Helping to care for the many local stray and feral cats in our P.V. neighborhood. Besides feeding them daily they need some vet care and sterilization. We feel with them being in our environment we are compelled to help as much as possible. Unfortunately, we are not financially flush to be able to do this for so many regularly. We hope the community who love cats and animals in general can give some assistance. It is hard to watch them die or be killed on the street. The Story - La Historia
As with many areas here in Puerto Vallarta you will find abandoned cats and dogs, where many just keep reproducing. There are always caring people who help in some way or another. It is hard for us pet lovers to ignore so many of them. Personally, I have had two beloved cats for 18 years. Sunshine & Violet. Shortly after we moved to this apartment Violet became ill. Outside there were more than a dozen cats living in and around the corner. My roommate Amber, also a passionate cat lover and who not long ago lost a couple of her beloved cats, started giving them food and water. There are three neighbours who help also. One elderly lady works as a grocery packer which they only get paid with tips, and uses this to buy cat food and take care of them as much as she can. Bless her heart, 💕 So, yes they are fed to some degree, but not enough. Nor are any of their health issues taken care of.I had a sudden huge vet expense with Violet’s new health issues, that as a self employed person, and work sporadic it was hard to handle this let alone help out with the kitties outside. Sadly, 5 months later Violet passed. Her sister Sunshine now has some underlying issues, which I am trying to manage also.When the outside kittens started appearing this became more heartbreaking to watch. Callie was rescued by Amber. We heard a kitten crying and when she went out to see the neighbour was holding her after some kids had thrown her up on the rooftop. He placed her in Amber’s arms and she came home with her. I knew she had to stay because I had had a vision about a week before with Amber and her own kitten. 😻Two days later, Amber took Callie to the vet and she sadly tested positive for Felv-Leukemia. The vet surprisingly asked if she wanted to put her down because she wouldn’t live very long. She was about 5 weeks old. Amber could not bear this and when she let me know, I said, I don’t feel that this is the right thing to do. Let’s give her Asea. It’s something that I’ve taken over the years and was currently giving my cats. It actually did help along with thyroid medication within about 25 days balance, Violet’s thyroid. I’ve known other people taking it for various things and just felt that would be the right thing for her at such a young age, and that her body would respond to it well. Long story short because it was quite an ordeal to keep my cats separate from Callie, so that there would be no transmission of the illness to my cats. But for two months straight, we did this, even though sadly my girl Violet did pass away from Ascites. Callie was tested twice and it came back negative both times. And as you can see her in the picture below, she is healthy and thriving! 🙏💕It was probably about a month and a half later that we saw a mama and papa with five kittens on the roof across the street. There was a kitten that looked just like Callie, so we thought this must be her family. Since then sadly, three of those kittens we have not seen again. The mother and the father are still around at times. Chloe and Cami are the only two kittens left. I will mention that there was another single baby out there until recently, who we remember her beautiful mother. She had a couple of kittens and then she disappeared, one of the kittens we believe died. This is the one that was left. Unfortunately, we think she was ill and then we woke up and saw her dead in the street in front of our place. She had been run over one time. I asked the Abuelo next-door if he could please remove her. Which he did. Then he told us that he had buried many animals in his backyard. Bless him! 💕This basically set the stage for me because it is a lot of symbolism for me to pay attention to. In the work that I do, I listen as much as possible to my environment and what it is showing me. Seeing Callie’s two sisters struggling in the street, even though accepted and guarded by the cats left out there. Many have passed or been killed. It’s just so heartbreaking to see this every single day. Especially now during rainy season though they do get food and water, they have other health issues and we would like to try to help them. If we can take at least Callie’s siblings in afterwards then we will do that, if not, then we would like to find them wonderful loving homes. 🙏 As well as help the remaining cats if possible. There are only a third left currently since living here. We know there will always be cats, but if we can get our neighborhood cats sterilized and contribute to at least feeding them for a while until we can hopefully get them adopted, then we have done our duty that we feel the Universe has asked of us. 🙏💕Como en muchas zonas de Puerto Vallarta, encontrarás perros y gatos abandonados, muchos de los cuales se siguen reproduciendo. Como trabajador autónomo y con un trabajo esporádico, me resultó difícil gestionarlo y mucho menos ayudar con los gatitos que estaban afuera. Lamentablemente, cinco meses después, Violet falleció. Había un gatito que se parecía mucho a Callie, así que pensamos que esta debía ser su familia. Desde entonces, lamentablemente, no hemos vuelto a ver a tres de esos gatitos. La madre y el padre todavía están cerca a veces. Chloe y Cami son los únicos dos gatitos que quedan. Mencionaré que había otro bebé solo por ahí hasta hace poco, a quien recordamos como su hermosa madre. Ella tuvo un par de gatitos y luego desapareció, uno de los gatitos creemos que murió. Si podemos acoger al menos a los hermanos de Callie después, lo haremos, si no, nos gustaría encontrarles hogares maravillosos y amorosos. 🙏 Además de ayudar a los gatos restantes si es posible. Actualmente solo queda un tercio desde que vivimos aquí. Sabemos que siempre habrá gatos, pero si podemos esterilizar a los gatos de nuestro vecindario y contribuir al menos a alimentarlos por un tiempo hasta que podamos lograr que los adopten, entonces habremos cumplido con nuestro deber que sentimos que el Universo nos ha pedido. 🙏💕
Kitten Man
This is Kittenman. He has been on the street since he was a kitten and he still looks like one, which is why he was named kitten man. He is the cutest, friendliest, most loving and caring cat on the block! He takes care of many of the cats that arrive. He is their guardian and protector. Currently, he is always by Callie’s siblings side. They follow his lead a lot of the times or he’s right beside them if they run into the street. We feel he’s quite adventurous and likes being out there but sometimes we’ve seen a sad face. He did get hurt once and it took about a month for him to recover, but he’s in pretty good shape overall. There are a couple elders on our street that help to take care of him sometimes. Though I’m sure he would love a cozy, dry and loving home. We would appreciate any help in trying to make this happen.
Este es el hombre gatito. Ha estado en la calle desde que era un gatito y todavía lo parece, por eso lo llamaron hombre gatito. ¡Es el gato más lindo, amigable, cariñoso y afectuoso del vecindario! Toma cada nuevo gato que llega bajo su protección. Él es su guardián y protector. Actualmente, siempre está al lado de los hermanos de Callie. Muchas veces siguen su ejemplo o él está justo a su lado si corren hacia la calle. Creemos que es bastante aventurero y le gusta estar ahí fuera, pero a veces hemos visto una cara triste. Se lastimó una vez y tardó aproximadamente un mes en recuperarse, pero en general está en bastante buena forma. Hay un par de ancianos en nuestra calle que a veces ayudan a cuidarlo. Aunque estoy seguro de que le encantaría un hogar agradable, cálido, seco y amoroso. Agradeceríamos cualquier ayuda para intentar que esto suceda.
Honky
Honky, named by Amber as almost all the cats, is always first at our door when she hears Amber coming down to feed them. Her name is Honky because her meow sounds like she’s honking. Lol! She actually looks pretty good, so we’re not sure if she has a home. We don’t know where that would be because she’s usually very close by. Unless she stays with the Abuela on the corner, at times. This is Guadalupe who really is the cat carer for this neighborhood. She doesn’t have very much though. She’s retired, as I said previously she works at Walmart to make tips and take care of the cats. She does have a son that lives with her who takes care of her. Honky probably stays upstairs with her sometimes. We feel that Honky really wants to have a nice cozy home. She does try to get into our door sometimes.Honky, nombrada por Amber como casi todos los gatos, siempre es la primera en llegar a nuestra puerta cuando escucha an Amber bajar a alimentarlos. Rincon, also named by Amber may be one of the older cats. He has beautiful eyes! He seems to like to take charge, and loves food! He appears to be in better shape than many of them.Rincon, también llamado así por Amber, puede ser uno de los gatos más viejos. ¡Tiene unos ojos preciosos! There are several other cats that I do not have individual pictures of yet. We will work on this and update the webpage soon. Though we thought she was a boy for a long time. She is about 7 months now. She is gorgeous! We can tell she is quite masterful and looks deep into your soul. Quite the adventurer also, yet always by her sister Chloe’s side. Once properly taken care of, she would be an amazing pet friend. Please help us to care for them while on the street and hopefully find a forever home!Esta es la hermana de Callie, Cami.

We would like to take Chloe and Cami to the vet immediately as they are the babies in the street and Callie’s siblings. Then Kittenman and one by one do the same for the rest of them. This is Callie’s sister Chloe. We see her as her twin. They are about 7 months old now. Though she is smaller than her sister, it is quite possible she may also have Felv like her sister first tested positive for. She is shy and generally scared except when food is arriving. Cami appears much more demure than her sister. We gave Callie Asea Redux for two months. She was then tested twice and is now negative and thriving! We hope to be able to do the same for Chloe! Please help us care for her and have a safe and loving home like her sister. Thank you!Esta es la hermana de Callie, Chloe. Apareció aproximadamente un mes después del rescate de Callie. Our Goals
Our current goal is to help as much as possible the stray and abandoned cats in our current neighbourhood. If we can take care of the cats needs to help them live a better and safer life, we will have been successful in bringing help and change in the time we are here. Though these are short term goals while living here, it could change or evolve. Stay tuned! Thank you for anything you are able to contribute. She is full of speed, wit, adventure, character and most of all robustly healthy! She is a gorgeous cosmic kitty! She was rescued by my roommate Amber. Sadly, some little boys threw her on a roof. We heard her cries! Then our neighbor placed her in Amber’s arms. Now we are blessed to have her presence in our home! Callie hopes we can give her siblings the gift she was given. 💕🙏Callie Ma, la Diosa.
